Now, Gabriel's career is on a meteoric rise and he is back to his bachelor ways. He told Nicole he couldn't promise forever and did his best to let her go, but these days he wonders if he spoke too soon.

Nicole has a new life, a new man, and she refuses to look back. To everyone around her though, not looking back looks an awful lot like running scared from the past.

With Jackie and Ian's wedding approaching, a reunion between the best man and the maid of honor is to be expected. What they don't expect is for the olive branch of friendship to catch fire with a love and need that is stronger than even their best intentions.

They called it quits. But is it really over? They still love each other. But does that even matter when they've made up their minds that there's no going back?

Book Title: Flawed and Damaged
Author: Emily Krat
Genre: New Adult/Contemporary Romance
Release Date: 22 July, 2014

Two people haunted by their past…
The collision of two damaged hearts…
Meet Elizabeth Williams. She is at the airport on an important work assignment. If everything goes smoothly, after three years of hard work, she’ll get a promotion and a much-needed raise. Elizabeth is putting her life back on track after it was ripped out from under her feet four years ago when she lost her parents along with all her dreams. Standing here, she believes her life is going to change for the better any moment now. Nothing can go wrong, right?
Meet Ryan Price. He came to Moscow on business. Right now, Ryan is standing at the airport looking at a ‘present’ from his brother, judging by the sign a beautiful young woman is holding. Damn his brother for not cancelling this arrangement as Ryan asked.
Miscommunications and misunderstandings and a love story begins.
There will be a scary flight, lovely breakfasts, long evening conversations, sharing a secret or two, discovering one another, a lot of laughter, tender moments and some tears, a fight and, of course, the I-am-ready-for-the-end-of-the-world kiss.
Somewhere along the way, they won’t be able to fight their feelings any longer.
For the first time in his life, Ryan will experience a different shade of lust. And for the first time in her life, Elizabeth will have to trust despite all of the times she has been hurt.
Will these two wounded lost souls find love, peace and comfort in each other or will they just break each other more? Is it a train wreck of a love story or a happily ever after?

“Ryan, I love you.” He looks confused, but relief is evident in his eyes, so I continue. “It was wrong of me to tell you about my feelings like I did yesterday. I was being a coward. I’m glad you shared all this with me. I won’t run, Ryan.”
“But, I don’t understand. How can you love me? Even after I told you about what I’ve done … How can you love someone so … horrible?” he says bitterly.
“You are not horrible, Ryan. I know it. I feel it.”
“How?” The desperation in his voice squeezes my chest.
I stare into the deep green pools that are his eyes and wonder how I can show him what I see.
“In here,” I point to my heart, “I believe my heart. And from what you told me, I can tell that you had no family except Mark. You were a kid at thirteen who didn’t want to lose his brother, you were a young man who sacrificed his own freedom for someone he loved the most. Now you are a big business mogul who may be harsh toward his employees, but puts them first even when seeking revenge. It’s an honor for me to love someone as devoted as you.”
“Liz, I’ve lied – ” I interrupt him.
“We are people, Ryan. We all make mistakes. You think I’m so pure? I wanted to use David to stay in Seattle. I agreed to marry someone for my own selfish reasons. Then I came to Russia and spent more than six months making my Granny’s life a living hell. She lost her only daughter. I never once thought about her feelings. She was old, she needed my care, and all I did was sulk for my old life. Even with you, how do you know I’m not using you? Maybe I just like this sense of fulfillment I feel with you that overwhelms the loneliness I've felt for so long. I am not a saint, Ryan. I also did awful things.”
Ryan contemplates my words for several minutes. Then says quietly, “I lied to you.”
I sigh. Now I don’t like the direction this conversation is taking. “You already told me that you didn’t need an assistant. There’s more?”
“I read your journal.”
The blood drains from my face.
“You what?” My voice trembles.
“When we were in Nice – the night you got drunk with Mark – I saw your notebook and I read it.”
“I … I …” No words come out of my mouth because I don’t have any. I can’t believe he did it. I wrote my sacred thoughts there, poured some raw feelings on those pages. They were never meant for anyone’s eyes other than mine.
“I’m sorry I did it. I was at a loss, I couldn’t understand what I was feeling for you.”
“So you read my journal to understand yourself? Ryan, it’s private. I poured my soul there. How could you do this?” I may be screaming now, but I don’t care. Some boundaries can’t be crossed.
“That’s who I am, Elizabeth. I don’t care about people’s privacy.”
“I’m so mad at you right now. I don’t even know what to say. Is that all?”
“No.”
Oh God!
“Tell me.” He almost looks scared. That’s when I know there are so many more lies he doesn’t want to tell me about. “Now, Ryan. You are going to tell me every damn thing. You owe me this.”

Cover Reveal and Cut Scene from TuDawgs!

Blurb:

Welcome to TuDawgs. Our county fair booth is now serving one very bad girl, sautéed in scandal and peppered with regrets. We grill her with relentless reporters, top her with one choice, all-beef carnival worker and slather on the heart-stopping hook-ups. We’ll throw in a generous dollop of enemies and make the stakes mile-high. What’s that? You want a cotton-candy ending for your bad girl? That’ll cost her extra. Don’t say I spilled the secret ingredient, but  the carnie’s playing a rigged game.

Deleted scene. I love it, but it had to go:

I didn’t have time to figure out what Tee’s issue was, because the trailer shook as Carnie bounded up the stairs. He stuck his head inside the door. “Molly? It’s Molly, right? Can you step out for just a moment, please?”

To my horror, she grinned and waltzed outside, pausing to pinch his cheek. “A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.” Dave’s laughter caused the trailer to shimmy. Can I climb out the window without breaking my neck?

The whole crew burst out laughing. They had no idea he was such a… a… backstabbing, money-grubbing opportunist. They were still snowed by his little act with his niece. Children make such good endorsements, don’t they? My words to Molly mocked me as he took a step in my direction. Backing up was impossible. Bonnie even tried to shove me in his direction.

I turned to snatch the tongs out of David’s hand, thinking I’d somehow fend him off. Dave held them out of reach. With a sinking heart, I felt a hard hand grip my wrist.

He yanked my arm.

“What are you—oof!” My stomach connected with his lowered shoulder. My head struck Noah in the gut when he spun. I kicked and balled my fists to pound his back, but all I got for my trouble was an arm that felt like steel across the backs of my thighs and sore hands. He rounded the end of the concession trailer, grabbed April by the hand, and sauntered through the crowd like it was a day at the beach.

She kept peeking around his body to grin at me, like the ass did this all the time, too. I had a lot to say, none of it fit for the ears of a five-year-old. Not to mention the little issue of getting a deep breath, because every step he took knocked  the air out of me. If some reporter happened to see me in this predicament, I knew damn well a photo would make the scandal rags. I had no choice but to endure. Frustration mounted as he strolled down the midway. When he put me down, should I run like a scalded dog? Or slap him first, then run?

Knee to the nuts. Then get away. Of all the days not to have a car.

Betrayed ~ Author M.O Kenyan

Welcome M.O. Kenyan to the guest spotlight today! The moment I saw this cover, I was in love. Yummy, isn't it? Check out the blurb and excerpt.

Betrayed, The New Yorkers, Book I
Betrayed is the first instalment of my New Yorker series. The series surrounds the four most influential families in New York. Four men who had grown up as friends and were separated by love. They became enemies when two of them fell in love with the same woman.
It begins with the Kent and Ross families. The Kent son, Reno arrives from New York to take revenge on his father for abandoning him and his sister. Reno finds the goddaughter of his father Dennis, and has every intention of using her to get his revenge. But he didn’t account for Lisette being who she was. Crazy, beautiful, strong willed and mesmerizing. Reno falls hard for Lisette, but Dennis doesn’t want him and Lisette to be together. So Reno gives Lisette up in exchange, Dennis promises to help him find his little sister.
Lisette Ross had never been in love before. So when the man she considers the love of her life leaves her she turns wild. Striking deals with a devil that leaves her half dead.
Reno now has to choose between the love he has for Lisette and that of his long lost sister. Who needed him more?

Lisette had heard the word ‘yes’ and immediately her senses went into a celebratory rumba. She barely listened as he promised to make things special for her, what she wanted engraved in her mind and heart, was the moment she took a giant leap of faith and landed into Reno Kanaloa’s strong arms. And so she did.
Lisette got out of the car and walked round to the passenger side where Reno was waiting for her with open arms. She rushed into them and they held her in place. She felt liked she belonged there, like she finally found her place in the world.
“It’s dark down here and we are alone,” she said in a seductive tone. “I might let you take me to the back seat and sneak a peek under my skirt.”
Reno’s body shook as he laughed his laughter filling and bouncing off the walls of the small parking garage. “Its statements like that that can get a girl de-flowered.”
“Oh really.” she teased as she rubbed her chest against his.
She was his eyes widen in shock, and then they slowly grew dark as his breaths labored. Lisette took a startled step back when she felt his manhood come alive and press against her belly. “I think I should stop teasing you now.” she mumbled as she stared at the bulge of his jeans.
“I think that is a great idea.” Reno closed his eyes and steadied his breaths.
“Reno, promise me something.”
“Anything.”
She waited until he had his eyes open before she spoke again. She needed to look into his eyes when he gave her this one promise; she needed to see if he was being honest with her. “If you feel like you are tired of waiting and you need to-,”
“I won’t.”
“But if you need to, please break up with me first. If there is one thing I cannot forgive is the breaking of trust.”
“I won’t.” Reno took a step forward and pulled her into his arms. He kissed the top of her head, before moving to her cheeks then her neck. “You are so tiny.” he mumbled as his lips smoothed against her neck.
Lisette rose to her tiptoes and angled her head so that he could get better access. What she didn’t expect was for Reno to lift her off the ground, and settle her on the bonnet of her car. He claimed her lips and kissed her passionately and hard, the hunger flowing through him and into her body.
She whimpered when he took a step back. Lisette put her hands on his shoulders and tried to pull him back in. But Reno took a step back and shrugged her hands away.
“I need a minute.” he gasped out. “You shouldn’t be so willing to give me what I want.”
Lisette watched as he struggled to get his body under control. She could feel a throbbing in her own body as her center pulsed with the need to be filled. “Maybe you should take me to the back seat and lift my skirts.”
“I think we should get going.” Reno started walking towards the parking entrance leaving Lisette behind. She watched him for a while and could see he was serious about leaving. She leapt off the car, run after him and hopped on his back. Reno’s hands secured her legs around him, and they walked to the parade in laughter.

Path of Least Resistance ~ #SexySnippets

This week, my seven sentences come from Rain On Me, Book #1 of my new interracial erotic bondage series, Give Me Shelter, scheduled for release at the end of January.

(unedited and subject to deletion)
The look on her face when I pulled her against me and extended our linked hands almost made me laugh. “I’m leading. This is not the time to do your own thing,” I warned.
I’m barely adequate on a dance floor, but the simple box step suited my purpose. I wanted to feel Zin’s head on my shoulder, and enjoy feeling the rain slip between our bodies, moving aside whenever it encountered a place where her flesh was pressed to mine. The sensation made me want to believe we could move other things aside, and for the same reason, because we were pressed together so tightly, going around us was the path of least resistance.

Imperfections ~ #SexySnippets

Sweet mother of God, I've finished Incidental Contact. (More about the delay after my #SexySnippet, if you're interested) Here's my seven, from the same title:

She’d seen him shirtless before, she just hadn't been expected to talk during the experience.

When he sat back, she eyed the rippling muscle and bronze skin. Not graduating suddenly meant little. What mattered was how she wanted to rub her nose in that perfect mat of dark hair on his chest. The urge was foreign, like someone else stuck the idea into her brain. She’d never been this close to male perfection. She wasn't sure she wanted to be, since their proximity gave him ample opportunity to see her imperfections, yet at the same time, she wanted to curl up against his strong chest.

Okay, for those who've stuck around to hear why my daughter could have a baby in less time than it took me to birth this book, here goes:

I had Soft Sounds of Pleasure mostly written when I saw an open call for a Christmas short. I wrote Incidental Contact to those specifications. (At the time, it was titled Jingle Bells and the Last Oil Filter.) The story was accepted, then I learned the publisher wanted to publish books one and two first. Since Wildly Inappropriate was but a gleam in my eye at the time, much time passed before I looked at Amy and Eric's story again.

When the suggestion was made to expand the tale, I started writing. A lot of things had happened in WI that weren't accounted for in the Last Oil Filter, because I hadn't yet written Dan and Cynda's story.  Naturally, the story line deviated from the one in my head when I'd initially written Eric and Amy's tale.

I had a new version completed to about 70k when all hell broke loose at my publisher. I won't go into all the gory details, but it's very disheartening to hear someone thinks it's cool to expand their business using money due their authors, then 'borrow' more royalties from other authors to pay those he screwed the first time around. While I was fighting to have my rights to SSoP and WI returned for breach of contract (so said publisher would no longer have money of mine to take), Wildly Inappropriate alone was pirated over 10,000 times. (Thanks, Scribd.)

So that drama translated into three or four months when I wrote nothing. Frankly, those two things can suck out your soul if you allow it. In the meantime, I'd found a huge hole in the overall De Marco timeline. Draft one tried too hard to fix that mistake Draft two was better, but had too much emphasis on the wrong characters. Frustrated and tired of the story, I set it aside to pursue other projects.

Honestly? Eric and Amy's story is better for the delay. Every new version has kept the best of the prior one and new material kept coming. I'm thrilled to say the manuscript's in the hands of my editor now, and hopefully, in a month or less, those hard-core De Marco fans still out there will finally see Eric fall in love.

And boy, does he suffer to do it. I thought that was only fair. <grin>

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week.

Oooh...baby pictures! So glad you asked.

Good Vibrations ~ #Sexy Snippets

Seven more from Incidental Contact, Those Devilish De Marcos Book 3

Unexpectedly, he smiled. Something caused the blue in his eyes to dominate the green, like her mother’s treasured mood ring from her hippie days. The sight made Amy’s heart as uncooperative as her tongue. He leaned forward until their noses touched. Heat from his body seeped through her shirt. His breath felt cool to her heated cheeks, but the stirring air made her lips tingle.
Maybe he didn't realize he stood so close that her breasts, belly, and thighs were pressed against him. He couldn't know every time he growled like a Rottweiler, her nipples stood up like tuning forks, absorbing the vibration.

Goin' Down ~ #SexySnippets

Life deals Eric a harsh blow, and all he can think about is being with Amy. But when he finds her, she's just been turned down for a very important project. Do they fight? Yes, but not the way he expects. She challenges him to a Nerf ball duel in the middle of the mall. When she informs Eric with a glint in her eye that he's going down, he has a typical De Marco response.

She poked him in the chest with the end of her gun. “You’re going down, De Marco.”
He leaned down until their noses nearly touched. “Oh, hell yes, I will go down. Count on that. Bet a quarter, I can make you cry with just my tongue.” Her cheeks darkened, and for a moment, her eyes had that unfocused look.

Good For the Soul ~ #SexySnippets

My seven today come from Incidental Contact, book #3 in my Devilish De Marco Men series. Eric's explaining how he plans to teach plump, plain-Jane Amy Sizemore to feel sexy.

“I mean, you may only orgasm at my whim. Whenever and however I want to give you one, I’ll give you one. And you’ll accept however many I choose to give you. I’m not a one-and-done kind of guy. And no cheating. You can’t give yourself one unless I’m watching. We do that on Sundays, because masturbation’s good for the soul.”

Think my little Education major might regret asking about the syllabus?

#SexySnippets ~ Ground Rules

My seven today are from Incidental Contact, Book 3 of Those Devilish De Marco Men, due to be released in September.

“Maybe I shouldn't be worried.” As though hypnotized, Amy watched his lips move. She was startled when he slid his knuckle across her cheekbone. The light brush tingled in two distinct spots—places too far apart for her reaction to be normal. “Looks like you get hot pretty easy.”
Okay, seriously, I’m starting to understand why women line up to fuck him.

What remained a mystery was why he was acting like he wanted to fuck her.

Guarding the Line ~ Chapter 4

Big week. The Braves swept the Nationals and are still firmly perched atop the NL East. I have re-edited Wildly Inappropriate and the story will be available again by the end of the week. And...my daughter's having a girl!

Six days later, Verity Alexander studied her reflection in her vanity mirror. The tattoo had been worth every penny, she decided.  Things were looking up all the way around. Her editor had salivated over the outline and first three chapters of the new story. And, she’d found the ring. Not that the ring was necessarily a good thing. She was still trying to get a reading on that. Her crystals had remained stubbornly mute, as had the gazing ball. She hoped the problem was on her end. a lack of use. With the Watchers in her home, she hadn’t been willing to open her mind to her gift often. The less the Triscaro knew about her, the better.
The sound of the phone interrupted her musing. She grabbed for the phone with one hand and a hand mirror with the other, still studying the tattoo. “Hello?”
“Vee, it’s Sage. I need a favor, please, please, please. You know I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t desperate.”
“You want me to bartend tonight?” Vee guessed. Sage wouldn’t be begging otherwise.
“That damn Garrity. You were right about him, I caught him stealing last night and fired his ass, but I can’t find another bartender and get them trained overnight. I need you for a week, maybe more because Avery’s in Jamaica. Please, Vee,” Sage wheedled.
Verity felt the same tangle of feelings she always had toward Sage. Love and exasperation. “I’ll help you, but I’m not splitting my tips.”
“No problem, I’ll kick in your percentage. Be here by nine? The door code’s changed.  7776. Gate code is still the same.”
Vee repeated the number that unlocked the employee entrance door. “For a minute there, I thought you were going patriotic.”
“Huh?”
She swallowed her sigh. Sage lived in the moment. And, she’d never been forced to attend school with humans and learn American History the way Verity had until she’d turned twelve. “See you at nine.”
“I’ll get somebody to prep your bar.” Verity disconnected the call before Sage guilted her into coming in earlier to slice up fruit.

Vee stood in the staff locker room, trying to untangle the strings of jet beads dangling from the hair comb in her hand.  Sage insisted that female staff wear one of two approved hair ornaments, and Vee wasn’t about to use the roaring twenties style headband with feathers.  She could just imagine pieces of the stringy black-dyed ostrich feather landing in someone’s drink as she worked. When the final two strands of beads came loose, she gave her hips a little shake in celebration.
She brushed her hair away from her face, and caught the two strands above each ear, securing them behind her head with the comb, letting the rest fall free down her back.
Glancing at her watch, she realized she needed to get to her post. She gave herself a final once-over in the mirror, turning to look over her shoulder as best she could. The sign on the mirror reminded her to wash her hands. Out of habit, she tucked the small tin of healing ointment into her front pocket before slamming the locker closed, though the ointment had worked so well she doubted she’d need it tonight. The tattoo hadn’t itched the way Thane assured her it would.
Time to go to work.  The VIP bar opened at nine. She prayed someone had actually been assigned to do the prep.
She entered the quiet room and quickly went to work, logging into the computerized register. She occupied herself by setting up the bar back the way she liked it, and checking to be sure every surface sparkled as customers started drifting in.
Soon, she was busy, too busy to notice when her sister appeared behind the bar.
“Vee, you saved my life.”
Again, Vee thought silently, giving Sage a quick hug. “Don’t mention it. The tips have been fantastic. Don’t you have better things to do than supervise me?  And,”—she shoved her sister aside playfully—“you’re in my way. Oh, and ask somebody to haul up a new keg of Budweiser, would you? I was ashamed to sell the last beer I tried to pour; it was almost pure foam, so I’ve been giving the guy free Bud Light.” She nodded in the direction of the customer who wanted that brand.
Few things annoyed Sage more than her staff giving away profits, Verity knew, hiding her grin. “You could’ve paged somebody,” her half-sister grumbled.
“Like I have time to figure out that complicated intercom system?” Vee plunked the six glasses onto a tray. Brushing past Sage, she delivered the order to the group of eight seated at the long bar.
Customers piled into the bar and Vee once again lost herself in the simple task of filling drink orders, keeping the long bar as sparkling as possible, and washing up glasses. The music seemed to grow louder, if  possible, but she found herself enjoying the band, going so far as to dance a bit as she poured shot after shot of alcohol into glasses, and crafted the elaborate drinks Obsidian featured.
Stacking her tray full of ornate drinks, she spun and felt her elbow connect with the heavy gallon jar of maraschino cherries. A full-blooded adorii could have used her powers to slide the fruit to safety. All Verity could do was clutch the tray of drinks and watch the sticky mess explode. Cherries bounced and rolled everywhere at her feet and the juice splashed everything from her shoes to her elbows. Tips had been good, but not when she deducted the cost of her leather pants. Dammit.

*****

Mike Reardon entered the VIP bar, hoping to find a spot quieter than the crowed main room. The music thrummed painfully in his temples and he wished like hell he hadn’t agreed to come out with his teammates. All he wanted was a quiet place to have a beer and lick his wounds. His run of inexplicable errors was killing him. He needed something to change his luck. Victor and Paulo insisted what he needed was to get laid, so they’d dragged him here. Not that he was in the mood for talking, much less trying to pick up a woman. All evening, his teammates talked about nothing but baseball, a topic he was sick of at the moment.
All the tables in the  room were full, but the long bar itself was empty. He didn’t see a bartender as he slid into a seat. Suddenly, a head popped up, followed by the rest of a delicious female form. Her back was to him, but Mike stared in disbelief at the reflection of the woman’s face in the mirror behind the bar. She looked like the woman he’d seen at Thane’s, the gorgeous, nearly-nude woman, getting an enormous tattoo. She wore a long-sleeved shirt so he couldn’t be sure. The bar was too dim to tell if the eyes were the same unusual color as those belonging to the girl stretched out in Thane’s chair.
She suddenly fired a towel at the sink, grabbed a new one, shoved it under running water, wrung it out, and disappeared once more.
His headache receded. He relaxed in his seat, patiently waiting for her to surface.
The blonde head popped up a few moments later, her back still to him. He couldn’t take his eyes off her reflection in the mirror. Suddenly, she whirled.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize you were waiting. What would you like?”
You. “Bud draft, please.”
She chuckled, but she swiped at her pants, eyes still lowered. Fine by him, he’d just watch while she fussed with the tight black leather pants. But he wanted a look at her eyes.
“That keg is empty. I’ve been waiting on a replacement all night. But,” she continued, leaning forward and lowering her voice and finally raising her eyes to his face, “the good news is, I’m giving away shots out of spite for being ignored.  Interested?”
Oh, he was interested, all right. Those eyes were definitely lavender. The view down the snug top was definitely interesting. “Sure, that sounds fine.” Mike forced the words past a suddenly-dry throat. She didn’t recognize him, apparently. And he was having trouble talking. Maybe because he’d seen her before, and not just at Thane’s. It hadn’t hit him until after he’d left the tattoo parlor, but he’d actually been seeing this face for a long time.
